"Islam, Christianity, Judaism/A Comparison"
"A 4 page research paper that contrasts and compares these religions. Ryan (2004) points out that non-Muslims are frequently perplexed when they find out that Muslims consider ""Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus"" and many other biblical personages who are known to both Jewish and Christian scripture to be Muslim (p. 19). This does not mean that Muslims consider these historical figures to have been, literally, followers of the Prophet Muhammad, the founder of the Islamic faith. What it does mean is that these men individually surrendered themselves to God and His will. The phrase, ""surrendering to God"" is the literal meaning of the word ""Islam."" According to Ryan (2004), the root words in Arabic for both ""Islam"" and ""Muslim"" refer to what human beings of faith are called to do, i.e., surrender to God. As this observation suggests, these major world religions have similar roots and commonality. In order to find out more on this topic, this literature search was instigated. Portrayal of Sexuality as Found in Muriel Spark’s “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” and “The Driver’s Seat”
"This is a 4 page paper discussing the portrayal of sexuality in Spark’s two works “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” (1961) and “The Driver’s Seat” (1970). Muriel Spark presents different portrayals of women and sexuality within two of her works, “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” and “The Driver’s Seat”. In “The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie” Spark uses strategies to allow the reader to become aware of her constant comparison of Brodie’s life with that of a man’s. As Brodie becomes more in control during the “prime” of her life, her character is physically and mentally compared with that of strong historical figures. In addition, Spark shows Brodie as a representative of the growing feminism throughout the 1930s in which women began to travel more on their own and live their lives outside of the religious confines of the past. The central character, Lise, in “The Driver’s Seat” however, portrays an embittered and business-like modern women. Spark uses business imagery to describe Lise and how women in the 1960s modern business world have become ordinary, tight-lipped and are judged on how many personnel are “above them” or “below them”. In addition, Lise tries to search for a man who has a “lack of absence” which indicates that men as well as women are affected by the impersonalized nature of the modern world. Theories Of Economic Justice
"5 pages in length. Economic justice proves to represent a dichotomy of representation whenever a civilized society is involved. Indeed, the very notion of economic justice often leads directly to economic injustice, inasmuch as there have always been – and will likely continue to be – a distinct separation between and among social classes. Some of the most voiced economic justice theories have been derived by historical figures who contended to know what was best for all people; however, given the fact that no ideology is ever without flaw, one can readily surmise that none of these theories were, in and of themselves, considered holistic in their approach. The author discusses economic justice theories of John Rawls. Bibliography lists 6 sources." Buy
